Visual Explorations – A Response to Landscape

Stream_Flow_cropped_72dpi.jpg

Visual Explorations makes visible "felt experiences" of being in the natural world. Conscious and unconscious awareness of the natural environment stimulates my artistic efforts. With marks, lines, color, light/dark contrast, and image, my work transforms the literal into the symbolic. Wind blowing in trees, long afternoon shadows, rocks, bird flight, bare winter branches stimulate the creative process. Layers, adding/subtracting, opaque/transparent, response to emerging images, staying present, the moving hand, this allows my work to unfold.
