Mistie Erickson - Artist Statement

My work is an emotional response to my life-long relationship with the landscape of the Pacific Northwest; the dappled light-filled forest clearing, early morning light, a moonlit lake dotted by swooping bats, tall conifers swaying in the wind, the dance of sunlight on ruffled water. Sometimes I include human or animal forms to make visible our existence as part of the natural world.

"The purpose of art is to represent objects not for themselves but in order to embody the echoes they have place on our soul."
